Designed for observations in the field

Birdbase includes a responsive observation form that can be used directly from a mobile phone, tablet or computer.

  • Automatic date and local device time
  • Automatic GPS positioning
  • Camera and gallery image selection
  • Individual count or flock registration
  • Activity and breeding information
  • Weather and observation notes
  • Image resizing and orientation correction
  • Users can edit their own observations

Wikipedia and Wikimedia integration

Birdbase can assist administrators when adding new bird species by retrieving species information, scientific names and images from Wikipedia and Wikimedia.

Images can be positioned and zoomed before they are used in the species catalogue. Frontend observers can use the lookup as identification assistance without being allowed to overwrite administrator-managed species content.
